HIV, the Human Immunodeficiency Virus, is responsible to cause Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome (AIDS). HIV belongs to the retrovirus family of viruses. There are two type of virus; HIV-1, which is the primary cause of AIDS worldwide and HIV-2 which is found mostly in West Africa.
